We are delighted to congratulate Edgar Chibaka, FRG Co-Founder and Director, upon his election as chairperson of the Malawi-UK Business Group, an organisation founded in 2017 to support, facilitate and develop business flow between Malawi and the UK in the global market.
Edgar co-founded FRG with Jamal Tahlil in 2007 and has been intrinsic to the growth of the company, leading the advancement of the FRG brand through acquisitions. Edgar is Managing Director of Robinsons M&E, one of the UK’s leading full building services, engineering and property maintenance acquired by the FRG Group in 2018.
The Malawi-UK Business Group was established by the Malawi High Commissioner to the UK with the objective of creating wider awareness of trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. The Malawi High Commission in London reacted positively to the news of Edgar’s appointment: ‘The High Commission is pleased to see the Malawi-UK Business Group progress and election of a vibrant and energetic team that will propel its agenda of advancing business links between Malawi and the UK to greater heights. The High Commission pledges its continued support to the group and encourages all businesses in the UK with interest in Malawi or looking for investment opportunities in Malawi to join the group under the able leadership of Mr Edgar Chibaka’
Edgar, a Chartered Fellow Manager of the CMI, and vice chairperson David Smith aim to provide strategic leadership to the organisation and will be lobbying the British Government to reconsider its business legislation to improve the trade environment for Malawian businesses.
Edgar commented: ‘We need the UK Government to remove some tariffs and legislation that disfavours Malawian businesses. This is important to facilitate entrepreneurial spirit in young people between these two countries so that free trade can benefit all parties involved’.
