The Living Wage Foundation has announced the increased real Living Wage rates for 2020/21 today to launch Living Wage Week (9-15th November).

The new rates are £9.50 in the UK and £10.85 in London. This means over 250,000 people are set for a pay boost to support workers and families through the pandemic. The Living Wage rates are the only rates independently calculated based on what people need to live on.

FRG is proudly working with the Living Wage Foundation to address the high levels of low pay in the UK security Industry. We became a Living Wage Foundation Recognised Service Provider in 2019 and recently joined the Service Provider Leadership Group to further promote a better quality of life for all workers.

We believe in paying a decent wage to our staff, who carry out vital work for many organisations, and therefore always provide a Living Wage costed bid to all our clients. This gives them the chance to decide if the Living Wage is right for them. We also pay the Living Wage to all staff in our head office and core functions. Living Wage Weeks provides a platform to celebrate our workforce and encourage other companies to explore the business benefits of the real Living Wage.

The difference to our employees and the positive impact on our business is evident. Here’s what our people said:

“I feel happier in my position as I am not getting so tired or despondent by working extra hours and seeing little for the work done.  I enjoy my job more, try harder and am more productive. I feel I am a better employee because the Living Wage helps me maintain a healthy home and work life balance”  Mark Wolf, FRG Controller

“The real Living Wage has invigorated my trust in management to do their best for their employees. As a result of this, I have a greatly improved motivation and desire to improve my performance and, consequently, the performance of the company”  Harry Welch, FRG Security Officer
