First Response Group (FRG) is delighted to announce that having successfully completed the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (the world’s biggest professional health and safety member organisation) approved Gate Safe Aware training, the company joins the reputable national register of Gate Safe Aware approved installers.
Gate Safe was set up in 2010, following the tragic deaths of two children in separate automated gate accidents and has one simple objective – to raise the standards in safety for electric gates and prevent any further accidents. The charity estimates that, based on past survey activity, there could be as many as 1.8 million unsafe automated gates in the UK, underpinning the over-riding need for a register of installers who have been trained to understand the required safety protocol to deliver a safe gate.
The Gate Safe register was established in 2012 following the rollout of the IOSH approved Gate Safe Aware training. It represents a nationally recognised body of installers who have undergone specialist practical training to equip them with the essential skills and knowledge required to install safe and compliant automatic gate systems. There are currently over 1,250 installers on the register.
Gate Safe is supported by the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS), Electrical Contractors’ Association, Electrical Safety First, IIRSM, IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), Safety Assessment Federation, RoSPA, Handsam, Secured by Design and, Trade Skills 4 U (no1 provider of electrical qualifications).
