On International Women’s Day 2025, Dannii Wood-Wright, FRG Group HR Director,  reflects on the incredible strides women have made in the security sector.

As one of three successful women in a leadership role on the board within First Response Group (FRG), I see firsthand how empowering women within this industry is key to creating a more dynamic, supportive, and effective workplace. It’s a moment to not only celebrate how far we’ve come, but also to acknowledge the work still ahead of us in achieving true inclusivity and equality, in an industry where women have traditionally been underrepresented. It’s essential that we continue to break down barriers and accelerate action to ensure women are not only in the room but are leading and shaping the future of industries like security.

As group HR director, I’m incredibly fortunate to work alongside a team that understands the importance of creating opportunities for women at every level of the business. At FRG, we’re committed to ensuring that women feel supported, valued, and equipped to thrive, whether on the front lines

or in senior leadership roles. Our gender pay gap snapshot from 2024 shows there’s only a 0.7% difference between male and female pay – compared to the national average, this is a lot lower.
Seeing women in leadership roles within security is not just inspiring, it’s essential. Women bring a unique perspective and skill set that enhances decision-making, strengthens team dynamics, and fosters a more empathetic, inclusive approach to the work we do. It’s about making sure women know they can succeed, whether that’s in HR, operations, or as security professionals on the ground.

I’m proud of the progress we’ve made at FRG, where we’re actively working to develop programs that prioritise inclusivity, talent development, and leadership opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender.

As women, we often bring qualities like empathy, communication skills, and resilience to our work—traits that are just as important in security as technical and physical expertise. My career has allowed me to see the importance of supporting people at every level, and this is something I’m incredibly passionate about. At FRG, we’re not only striving for excellence in security but also for excellence in the treatment and development of our people.

As a mother and a professional, I know firsthand the challenges of balancing a career and family life. But I also know that when you’re given the right support, both at work and at home, you can achieve great things. That’s why it’s so important for businesses to offer flexible working arrangements and create an environment where all employees – whether male or female – feel valued and empowered.

I am proud to be part of an organisation that is making great strides in supporting women and accelerating action to create a more inclusive and dynamic security industry. With continued focus on leadership development, mentorship, and creating opportunities for women, I am confident that the future of security is brighter and more inclusive than ever.
